Privacy Policy

Overview

Scribe is a macOS app that records, transcribes and summarizes your meetings. Because meetings are sensitive, Scribe is built on-device first. This policy explains exactly what stays on your Mac, what can leave it, and when.

Recordings & Transcripts Stay on Your Mac

Meeting audio is captured and transcribed entirely on your device.

Scribe uses NVIDIA's Parakeet v3 CoreML model and on-device speaker diarization running locally on Apple Silicon. Recordings and transcripts are stored as plain files in a folder you choose on your Mac. We operate no cloud library — your archive is yours, in the open Markdown format, forever.

Scribe Pro Cloud Features

The optional Scribe Pro subscription adds cloud features, routed through our secure proxy to Groq's API:

• Summaries and chat send transcript text (never audio) to generate the response, which is returned to your Mac. Nothing is stored on our servers.
• Cloud transcription is used only when the local model is not installed: meeting audio is sent for transcription and the transcript is returned. Scribe stores no audio or text server-side.

Pro requests are authenticated with an anonymous device identifier used solely to validate your subscription. It is not linked to your name and carries no personal information.

Data Collection

Scribe contains no analytics, no tracking, and no telemetry.

There are no user accounts. We do not collect, store, or transmit your meetings, transcripts, or usage data to us.

Microphone & System Audio Access

Scribe requests microphone and screen/system-audio recording permissions solely to capture your meetings when you start (or confirm) a recording. Nothing is captured outside an active recording session.

Your Responsibility: Recording Consent

Laws on recording conversations vary by jurisdiction — many require the consent of one or all participants. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required in your jurisdiction before recording a meeting with Scribe.

Subscriptions & Billing

Scribe Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment information — it is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure. Your email address is collected during checkout solely for subscription management and account recovery.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
